I agree. I showed ChatGPT for a teacher, and they were mildly interested but pointed out some flaws in the lesson plans it created for their subject. Then again AI generated limerick answers to the questions in the AI generated lesson plan were a hit. They said maybe they could try it out too but lost most of the interest when I mentioned a user account would be needed. While I am, as you said, still bemused with the speed of this change hitting us.
