As somebody who would ordinarily look for products in this "more expensive, reasonable quality" category, I feel this comment so hard :( I've actually started building my own furniture from raw wood etc. just because it's impossible to find anything that costs less than $1000 that isn't just cardboard and MDF with a veneer. At least with furniture there's a market for "solid wood". But in so many other industries you get to pick between $3 garbage in a $0.20 box for $5, and $3 garbage in a $5 box for $20.
