Tesla's electric Semi faces a long, slow, uphill climb
- Kon-Peki 4y agoPeople want to criticize the Tesla Semi and bring up a lot of perfectly valid critiques. But none of them matter. If Tesla examined all potential buyers and only allowed you to buy it if it fit your use case with capacity to spare, they'd still have a 5-10 year waitlist at maximum manufacturing capacity. And all those buyers would save a ton of money in total lifetime cost. But... At current and future interest rates, hardly anyone can afford the upfront cost of a semi with a battery pack that probably costs $250,000+ all by itself. And that is why Elon is out there trying to convince the Fed to lower interest rates (it's not going to work).
