Think about how many trillions of dollars in incremental GDP have been generated from semiconductor tech since the invention of the transistor. People will complain and call this "corporate welfare", but this probably has an ROI significantly greater than almost any other way the US government could spend $30B.
- HPMOR 4y agoIdk... giving DARPA, or the new BIO-DARPA, $30 billion could be pretty transformational. But you're right we need to onshore transistor manufacturing because of the little Taiwan situation.
