A related thing to watch out for is that a new Dell laptop may have the harddrive encrypted with bitlocker, it you don't attach it to a microsoft account then you may later find you have no way of retrieving the bitlocker key so if it won't boot or you can't log in you can't get any files off the storage by other means.
