I have a safe box with Desjardins in Canada. Last time I went, they asked for my name and date of birth. They did not checked my ID. They let me in the safe and let me open my safe box. I told them I did not remember my box number, and they gladly showed me. Obviously I had the key, but I thought it was easy for someone else to get that information if I got my key stolen. Moreover, when I took the safe box, no receipt of written proof was offered. The safe box is free, but I don't feel like using it for high value items.

So if key is stolen, it still wont allow the person to access without the pin and id matching name authorized to access the box.
