As a Vietnamese, i'm ashamed by being a Vietnamese. Here're some reasons:
- Lack of culture: People hate each other in different regions.
- Lack of trust: Noone trust each others (besides only a few close friends)
- Lack of education: Students learn by heart to get over college. Then they switch career path just for some money.
- Lack of morality: People will do all kinds of thing without thinking about the cause and effects.
And many more.
No hope, because the root of issues will never be solved.
- the-printer 4y agoIn what group of people do you find the opposite of the qualities you’ve listed?
- revskill 4y agoThe problem is not about the opposite. Those traits is seen in 99% in Vietnam. As a matter of facts: You won't find any "good" Vietnamese companies to work for. Why ? Bad leadership is worse then there's no leadership.
- the-printer 4y ago(Non-confrontationally): What is the problem then? Because I see those same qualities among my people as well.
- revskill 4y agoI worked mostly for international companies. And most of them are good. People are good. Leadership are good. The percentage of "good" is high. You can find the "good" everywhere. So the problem is you can't fix the issue in Vietnam.
- hvng24 4y agoHave you worked with domestic employers in a different country? The experience is always better with international companies regardless of where they are from.
- unmole 4y agoSo, are you one of the good ones? /s Every single reason you came up with applies to my country too which actually happens to be poorer than Vietnam. This sentiment is not uncommon amongst relatively well off people who mythologise perfect foreign countries. But at the end of the day this is just vacuous cultural essentialism with a dose of self-loathing.
- revskill 4y agoI've lived in Europe for a time, and i became better around them. None of the issues above is in my head at all !
- fxtentacle 4y agoAs a German, I observe the same issues: Lack of culture: We're supposed to be a country of thinkers and poets, yet most people can't spell correctly and talk with broken grammar. Lack of trust: Supermarkets effectively treat everyone like a thief, requiring you to lock away your backpack and/or allow them to inspect it. Lack of education: Those youngsters use university mostly to party. People will just memorize whatever gets them through the next test. Nobody at the end of their master's degree still remembers that elegant method for solving differential equations that I showed them 2 years earlier... Lack of morality: Politicians openly accept huge sums of salary from companies that they used to regulate. Rich people get away with borderline criminal shit all the time. Nobody even cares enough to hide it, you can read about yet another politician getting bribed 300000€/year in the newspapers. CumEx and Wirecard scandals ... Plus we have a shitload of entitled old people here who expect to get retirement money from 65 until they die at 90, but we don't have nearly enough young people in the workforce to generate that money. So actually, Vietnam with a growing economy full of young people sounds kind of promising to me.

- hvng24 4y agoAre you saying every Vietnamese is bad beyond salvation compared to people from other countries? As a Vietnamese who has lived in different continents, I must say you’re generalizing. There are good and bad people everywhere.
- revskill 4y agoSure! The issue is 99% of Vietnamese people have such issues. It's not 50% good - 50% bad :)
- hvng24 4y agoWhere did you come up with that statistics? You condemned the whole country with a number you came up with. I’ve lived in Singapore, Japan, Netherlands, US and now Canada. I could see problems with my social circle in any country. But I would refrain myself from saying 99% of the country is the same as my social circle.
