  Jibe (verb): change course by swinging a fore-and-aft sail across a following wind. (noun): an act or instance of jibing. GP believes that the Atlantic article constitutes an instance of changing course by swinging a sail across a following wind, presumably metaphorically.

    99% sure they meant "gibe", but thought I'd just ask to see if there was some new use of jibe that would make sense that I didn't know about. gibe - (noun) an insulting or mocking remark; a taunt. "a gibe at his old rivals"
