Text: Deleted account.
These are different.
- salad-fan 4y agoThis. Almost everyone I’ve seen leave has left their account in place.
- tanepiper 4y agoYes because if you delete your account, after 30 days the username becomes available again to use. Most people holding on to it is to trolls can't come and squat or run a fake account. Now, how many of those users are still activly posting, that's the most interesting question?
- MichaelZuo 4y agoJust from my casual browsing of folks who have a mastodon address somewhere in their profile, I would say that figure is somewhere between 10% to 50%.
- rsynnott 4y agoYup. I’ve still got my account, and if I go to twitter my followed and follower counts have only gone down a little. But I’m no longer actively using the account, and my timeline there has gone quite quiet (and meta; at least for me a lot of the remaining talk on twitter is _about_ twitter). I’m keeping my account around not because I’m worried about impersonation (can’t imagine why anyone would bother, in my case), but, well, because I’ve had it for 15 years, and am somewhat attached to it, and, you never know, there’s a history of social networks being resold and partially resuscitated after bad acquisitions (see tumblr).
