I don't do it based on some philosophical reasons, and I've never heard of the guy he references, though I do have that philosophy. I keep my phone background black because it's an amoled display. It makes it easier to read and saves battery. My workstation currently has the default sway wallpaper because I can't be bothered to install swaybg and don't really care. How often do you look at a wallpaper on a tiling wm anyway?
