One of the better changes I’ve been able to (imperfectly) implement is passing by and/or refusing to engage some comments. I can understand why some people get a rise out of particular comments, and I don’t blame them for engaging. It’s a reasonable way to react. But I’ve found it better to just pass them over - whether the person on the other side really believes what they believe or is trolling or whatever else. This necessarily means engaging with fewer people and, of course, not offering my opinion on everything (or, to an extent, self-censoring).
