I shouldn’t have to try so hard to make multitasking work on a Mac
- pxc 4y agoTo some extent this is just what it's like to come to a strange OS when you're already a power user of another. As a longtime Plasma user, Windows also makes me feel like many things I take for granted are broken or missing from the base system. But ultimately I still agree with the OP. macOS comes across as especially inflexible about its incompleteness, and the prospect of loading my OS install up with a dozen proprietary, paid apps by different individual developers always grates on me. That resentment is deepened by the fact that I know these apps pretty much all work by exploiting undocumented, unsupported behavior or APIs in the operating system. Apple breaks or Sherlocks exactly the kind of apps that make their incomplete OS resemble a mature and user offering with new macOS releases, so why even invest in those hacks?
- snowwrestler 4y agoThis is the shallowest of clickbait. “Why doesn’t a Mac work like a PC?!” stopped being interesting to argue about around 2003.
