I still find it hard to grasp that the concept of "sick days" even exists in the US. Especially since you get so few vacation days in the US as well. There is no equivalent here in Germany, if you're sick you're sick and you do get paid (long-term illnesses are handled differently, but that's almost an entirely separate topic). This is really a subject that should be regulated from the top, and not something everyone has to fight for over and over again.
