Show HN: A Visual UI to Hacker News
- khalidx 4y agoThank you for introducing me to this, and to tree notation. I’ve been working on something similar to the concepts in Tree Notation and the ecosystem of tools around it, and I can’t believe something like this exists in this space. So awesome, going to dive in tomorrow.

- warent 4y agoI actually love the url; it's endearing.
- Gys 4y agoSo if I understand correctly this is using HN as example data for a more general online tool: > Ohayo is a fast and free tool for data science. Ohayo consists of a very high level programming language and a visual web studio for that language. The goal of Ohayo is to enable people to do data science at the speed of voice. https://github.com/breck7/ohayo https://github.com/breck7/ohayo
- jdorfman 4y agoI like it. Maybe replace NaN with something else. It's distracting IMO.
- graypegg 4y agoInteresting to mess around with once I got the hang of things though you’re setting up a pretty high barrier to entry by making your own DSL just for this web studio. I wanted to filter out the NaN rows but I couldn’t get that working in my 5min of messing around. Also, Cleveland rocks… Ohayo!
- mg 4y agoI had the same idea (to sort social media posts on a chart by time and points) in 2014. I called it "News 2D" at that time: https://www.gibney.org/news_2d https://www.gibney.org/news_2d My Show HN was even similarly named. "Your Hacker News history visualized": https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8475169 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8475169 I built out the interface for a while, but it did not get much traction. And I also did not use it myself after a while, so I shut it down. I however then adapted this idea to visualize products and that project is still alive: https://www.productchart.com https://www.productchart.com
- anon115 4y agoI can't see what phone specifically im clicking on also had the same idea for the interface but I guess it kinda doesn't work but dope anyways.
- mkenny 4y agoI really like how you can chart the data. I will say though that I found myself wanting to click the dots on the chart as links and wasn't able to. If you intent people to use this same use case for the Ohayo, I would think that might be a nice option. (That is, unless I missed this somehow)
