- carom 4y agoWhich is unfortunate because then they will never become senior devs.
- terminal_d 4y agoSay it ain't so
- synaesthesisx 4y agoWait until the GPT-4 version is out, and seniors are in trouble too. People don’t realize, this is still in its infancy.
- graeber_28927 4y agoTrue! Right now it is like when the camera had been around for a few years: People knew it was revolutionary, they went to the cinema to watch a train arrive and got terrified [1]. But compare that to the billions of camera phones, Marvel movies, Hubble, etc. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Arriv%C3%A9e_d%27un_train_en_gare_de_La_Ciotat https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Arriv%C3%A9e_d%27un_train_...
- spaceman_2020 4y agoI showed this to my wife who is in academia. It can't replace academics because research, by its very definition, has to be new, but good God it's going to make her job impossibly hard - it's trivially easy to pump out papers with this tool. Once students catch on, it's going to be really hard to figure out what's a real paper and what's AI-generated. And journals are going to have a real hard time dealing with "paper spam".
- eternalban 4y agoI think management should be first. AI managers sound very reasonable actually. Next stop, VCs. If we geeks were actually smart (regrettably we are practically not) the bots would be taking away non-geek jobs. "Thou shalt not Code!"* [the secret 4th law of robotics on planet Actually Smart Geeks Here] * graven image business all over again -- it's a sin ;)
