I can afford most things I care about. In fact I'd rather buy it, as its often technology, and I don't trust others to know my tastes.
For that reason, my favorite gifts are
* Childcare over a few days - a parent helping so my wife and I can get away
* Donations to charities I care about
* Sentimental things / things kids make
- filoleg 4y ago+1 on sentimental gifts. My favorite present this year was a card in the mailbox from my sister, wishing me happy thanksgiving and telling me she was hoping I was settling well at my new place. Despite not having moved anywhere within the past 2 years, I appreciated the gesture just the same.
- warrenm 4y agoI can buy most things I want, too - my wife and I share a bank account, so it's not like it's all that easy to hide what we get from each other :P That said ... just because I can buy something I want, doesn't mean I will - and someone else buying something for me because they want to means more than the thing :)
