this is a lengthy diatribe borne out of frustration of having to constantly produce a peice of work, not out of will or pleasure but from pressure to show that one is doing somework.
i am ignorant when it comes to politics in academia; however, isn't this the reality of academia? one has to show work irrespective of quality if one is to maintain one's position?
- nequo 4y agoIt’s not even the “politics” of academia. Publications are what bring in grant money and prestige. Grant money brings in overhead (a cut that the university keeps instead of the researcher) and prestige brings in donations. So it is the economics of it.
