Gimmicks such as buy our product and plant a tree might work in oversaturated, commoditized markets where consumers care less about which product they buy. I'm not sure choosing a financial product falls in the same category where there are a dozen parameters people will consider before picking their product. Besides do we really need more trees? Where are they planting them? Does it count if they partner with a lumber company which plants trees every cycle like a crop? I think we have enough trees. If they're really concerned about climate change they would be better off to use the money to sponsor research or lobby the government for favourable regulations.
