"At what age will he be when this predominantly young staff become concerned that he might “retire or die”?" As an older tech person myself I hate to say it but it won't matter because he's "special". I sincerely believe that people in a top role like that simply do not relate to the rest of us. They've lost the ability to do that. It's a rare person that reaches such levels of power and privilege and is still able to remain grounded in the reality that the people around them exist within.
