What politics would have been requisite to escape nepotism and age discrimination?

- xyzzyz 4y agoUnions are all about your position in the union and your tenure. They are discriminating by age through explicit design, and in favor of most powerful and least vulnerable actors on the job market.

- blululu 4y agoAge discrimination yes, but unions have a long history of establishing and protecting nepotism.
- pydry 4y agoI get the feeling reading this that it wasnt exclusively about age - there was probably an additional political component that happened behind his back. Maybe he didn't kiss the right ring or he inadvertently made someone powerful but incompetent look bad in a meeting or something.
