I had actual vodka made from aldehyde free HPLC grade dry alcohol and deionized water. (Remained after some cleaning of things.) That thing literally has no taste and it's both smooth and burning sharp at the same time. The other vodkas tend to have sugars and esters in the mix. You can detect them using a classic test.l, which shows how much the marketing about distillation process is worth. They taste completely differently - depending on brand as well.
