I spend most of my day as a volunteer for a youth group. I have been working here for the past 14 years, and hope to be lifer. Practically, there are many reasons that this may stop - I don't get paid and may need more working hours elsewhere, they may suggest I retire (am already a grandfather), etc. I also have been programming part time for longer than that and hope that continues as well. I recommend that anyone who could, to take on a do-good project and consider it your main occupation [even if it only gets an hour a day], and then go lifer on that.
