Charging infra is a common objection to electric cars…
But what about gas cars? It would have be ridiculous and absurd to argue that the correct response back in 1900 should have been
“No one should buy a Car prior to a nationwide network of gas stations and interstate highways being built! Dirt, gravel and cobble roads are in acceptable. How will cars work without 8 lane paved freeways!!”

- xsmasher 4y ago"The grid can't handle it!" would be a good argument against refrigeration and air conditioning too. Sure, it can't handle it if we had 100% adoption TODAY, but that's not real concern.
- rurp 4y agoGas infrastructure evolved over 100 years as cars gradually shifted from a novelty to near-necessity in the US. The goal with electric vehicle adoption is generally to switch over in less than a century. If we do take that much time to switch over though, it will probably happen fine organically. Charging infrastructure is a valid concern and handwaving it away doesn't help.
- mint2 4y agoMassive government incentives won’t be able to speed it up? We NEED the electric transition, but because it might be bumpy we should just forget about it? Charging infrastructure is not currently a valid concern for slowing any transition timeline.
