Microsoft to Offer Sony 10 Years of Call of Duty to Close Activision Deal
- seanhunter 4y agoThe whole exclusivity argument in this transaction is bizarre to me. Sony were the ones who pioneered paying studios to have platform exclusive rights to various games. There are any number of titles that are or were platform exclusives on Playstation. For goodnees sake, you don’t even have Spiderman as a playable character in Guardians of the Galaxy unless you play on Playstation. So what makes COD so special? I just don’t see it. But the thing about this argument is it doesn’t have to stand up in court - it just has to get enough traction with the M&A regulators or their political masters to put a stop to the acquisition.
