yes but the upgraded/replaced transformer will be much cheaper than the battery, so it would take some other circumstance (an impossible to upgrade transmission/distribution line) for it to make sense. our grids will start to grow batteries at pinch points, already are, but it will be an exceptions/corner-cases thing, the economics don't work for the broad-average.
