I've made tons of good friends in online places over the years. Forums, AOL, MMOs, Discord. Heck I even met my wife through World of Warcraft. All these things

I've made tons of good friends in online places over the years. Forums, AOL, MMOs, Discord. Heck I even met my wife through World of Warcraft. All these things are 'repeated' and 'casual' and online. They're not "social media" though (which seems inhumanly anonymous and transactional to me) more like communities built around specific things.
