"""But the cultivated meat industry will contribute to CO2 emissions, given that its production facilities will use electricity. The researchers conclude that the relative impact will be determined by whether — or how quickly — the energy used to power the cultivated meat production facilities comes from clean-energy, or decarbonized energy."""
It would be nice if the article had graphs of how much water and calories are required per lb of meat from Raised Cattle vs Grown Meat.
Energy aside, I'm curious about the change in Evolutionary Pressure for lab-grown meat vs Mass-Factory-Farms. Because both are quite far removed from a Wild Animal seeking survival and reproduction. The wild animal relies on its meat to survive, I know there MUST something good and nutritious in there. Then a step down to the poor beast trapped in whatever pen they built 10,000 of - His meat isn't a tool for his survival, it's a product curated by Volume for Sale: The Fatter, the Better (which makes one wonder about our epidemic of Obese Americans, and our meat)
I am glad that a full Animal Consciousness is not embodied and slaughtered for this lab-meat. Will we soon witness an outcry over the mis-treatment of lab-meat, which did actually experience all those bright sterile lab conditions?
Last but not least, I'm amazed they can say the meat doesn't need anti-biotics. I suppose that modern industrial sanitization/clean rooms is sufficient, because - It's Meat!! I would HOPE that every bacteria in a square mile of that lab-meat would find it delicious and enticing.
