Biden Asks Congress to Intervene in Rail Dispute as Strike Deadline Looms
- AnimalMuppet 4y agoBiden asks Congress to force unions to ratify a contract that they rejected. I'm pretty sure that Congress doesn't actually have the power to do that. Did I miss something? Or is this just "make up arbitrary new federal government powers week", same as every other week?
- kelnos 4y agoRules that govern negotiations and contracts between railways and rail workers only exist as a matter of law -- law that Congress itself enacted[0]. All of that can be modified or undone on the fly by further acts of Congress. I think it's pretty gross, though.
