Well, I guess we finally settled the question of, "Is scraping legal?". I expect there will be more anti-scraping techniques rolled out across various sites in the EU.
I can see a lot more captchas in EU user's future.
- shapefrog 4y agoI hate meta more than the next person - but classifying someone scraping everyones profile as a "hack" or "breach" actually fails the consumer - where we sould highlight just how much information people willingly post very publicly.
- kornhole 4y agoYes it seems more like another excuse to pile on Meta and scrape some fines for the EU.
- justapassenger 4y agoTo add to that - their biggest scandal to date (Cambridge Analytica) was also scraping at the core. More complex, but still, it was not really a hack or breach.
