Employers Rethink Need for College Degrees

- chiefalchemist 4y agoNote: This simply speaks to the ads / internal requirements. It's not necessarily what's happening at the hiring decision level. Another related question is: if hired how will the no-degree individuals be treated differently over the course of their career? Especially if this lowering the bar is only temporary. Overall, is this a shift within corporate America to focus more on internal training and career growth?
- AstroJetson 4y agoRight, once you get in then the lack of a degree can become a problem. I think some places are having a hard time filling positions (like help desk call center) type things. For most of those jobs there are 100's of scripts that the desks follow (I used to write scripts so we tried to cover everything). So there wasn't a lot of college skills needed. People pick up pretty quick on what works and can make that their goto.
