It looks like steady progress is being made in Mathematical Physics (which I believe is physics done from rigorous mathematical definitions - so you can no longer bullshit the Dirac delta "function" for instance). Some of that stuff is apparently supersymmetry-inspired and strings-inspired, but doesn't technically rely on any of these theories being true.
