Elon Musk to Build “Alternative Phone” If Apple and Google Boot Twitter
- bediger4000 4y agoThis is excellent, very much in the true spirit of Free Enterprise, and the USA ideal of free speech. Do you think it will be an Android phone?
- sidibe 4y agoIt will be an amazingly well engineered phone based on the woefully inferior Android, which is being held back by wokeness. It will soon be the most secure and private phone ever created, pending one more year and regulatory approval (the Feds are preventing Elon from using some of the super encryption he's thought of). And you can get great memes as wallpaper and fart ring tone options right out of the box. Building the world's best phone is naturally a simple task for someone who landed rockets on a boat.

- metadat 4y agoIs this a bluff or a dare? I can't tell anymore with this one. p.s. previously submitted a few times, here's one with light discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33753605 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33753605
- salad-fan 4y agoYes. Space Karen’s MO seems to be to just throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks.
- BulgarianIdiot 4y agoIt's a touch of "I'm rich so I can do whatever I want" with a pinch of "Apple you better be careful what you do, or imma ruin your whole career". But in effect it's just Elon being desperate with no way out. No alternative phone will save Twitter if it gets banned from the 2 major mobile platforms.
- mikkergp 4y agoIs there an equivalent to Amazon’s “leadership principals” at Musk Co? Is there a core cultural skill set that Musk CO’s have that a re replicable across industries? (Aside from worker exploitation and ignoring safety regulations) I mean there seem to be some core principals around transparent pricing and design, are these codified anywhere?
- sidibe 4y agoElon likes to talk about "First principles", which means AFAICT means don't look at anything anyone else has done in the field and go with your gut then post hoc rationalize why that was the superior choice. It works great if your underlings are good at figuring out how to gently correct your ideas with prior knowledge and make you think it was all you.
- ohiovr 4y agoPeople would more likely buy a tiktok phone before a twitter phone. I take my phone with me because I need a timer, not the internet.
- zimpenfish 4y agoBest* comment I saw on this, admittedly from someone who appears to have built their entire personality around worshipping Space Karen[1], was: > Elon Musk’s New Smartphone is going to Put Apple Out Of Business! And, just, like, what. How does a brain get that broken? [1] Dogecoin all over their profile, crypto dripping off every corner, grifting crypto courses for sale, etc.
