The Oxygen of Amplification
- Ginger-Pickles 4y ago> The Oxygen of Amplification has three interlocking parts: > Part 1 provides a historical overview of the relationship between the news media and far-right manipulators who leveraged trolling and meme culture during the 2016 US presidential election. The film Feels Good Man (2020)[0] is a visually beautiful example of the same idea. Unexpected psychedelic sleeper hit of the year. - cplusplusfellow 4y ago“Far” right is a ludicrous term these days given how centrist you can be and still be designated such. All that’s necessary is to be contra narratives - or question narratives that aren’t allowed to be questioned and suddenly you’re almost a nazi. With that said, “trolling” and “meme culture” was founded by far left activists on late night television during the Obama years, in my view. It’s a legitimate way of questioning narratives.
- hereme888 4y ago> "Part 1 provides a historical overview of the relationship between the news media and far-right manipulators..." It's noticeable how the "far-right" is always being blamed, but the far-left is rarely ever mentioned in books or by the MSM.
- woooooo 4y agoThey all locked ranks against Bernie Sanders when he looked like a threat for 5 minutes. The rest of the time, you're right that they never mention anything far left but it's not like that's great for the left.
- jjj123 4y agoCurious who the far left extremists are to you? Do you mean Twitter communists or identity politics liberals, or something else?
- swayvil 4y agoThis is definitely pushing a certain politics. Do we do that here?
- cplusplusfellow 4y agoI was flagged earlier today because I called out someone pushing politics of the left with overt hypocrisy. It certainly doesn’t happen the other way around.
