PTFE is way worse.
Those are the microplastic we are going to find in breastmilk forever.
- qbasic_forever 4y agoYeah a lot of outdoor manufacturers have been trying to make more eco friendly waterproof gear that doesnt use PTFE. Patagonia in particular has been really trying hard to get rid of their use of them: https://www.patagonia.com/our-footprint/ptfe-polytetrafluoroethylene.html https://www.patagonia.com/our-footprint/ptfe-polytetrafluoro... From what I understand the gear that doesn't use PTFE is unfortunately still not great or have the long term durability as goretex. Hopefully soon they'll figure out a good replacement!
- Maxion 4y agoKlättermusens Cutan fabric performs quite well. Especially compared with Gore.
- userbinator 4y agoPTFE is also used in implants specifically because it completely inert under normal conditions.
- jjtheblunt 4y agowhich sorts of implants? i know, for another example, some orthopedic screws are actually calcium which are made to reabsorb, which i have 3 of myself from an athletic injury repair by an NFL team surgeon (maybe relevant if the materials change for type of repair).
