Here’s the impression I’m getting. Elon Musk has an idea to save the world. Get 80% of the people in the world to be payment verified, allow full freedom of speech, everyone will be happy. Interestingly he very quickly seems to be pivoting more and more to, wow, people don’t want what I want, _they_ must be wrong. I’ll build a product for the people who support me, and this seems to be a part of that and not a general competitor. It’s interesting to me how quickly he is giving up and not even trying.

What makes you think people don’t want the current version of Twitter? DAUs at an ATH, it’s in the news cycle non stop, and there’s actual hype/momentum for the first time in years. Is it because you see a few stunning and brave celebrities make the stunning and brave decision to announce they’re “leaving Twitter.”

You’re honestly hard to respond to sometimes. You’re in all these threads I am, clearly think very differently than me and are clearly passionate about it. I’m never really sure if you’re open to a discussion or just asking rhetorical questions.

He started with the idea that "a neutral Twitter means you upset the left and right equally". Then he started upsetting the left, and the right were like "you go, Elon!!!" and he forgot his plan immediately, because he wants to be liked.

The MAGA phone was already a thing about a year ago. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/07/the-maga-targeted-freedom-phone-has-a-breathtaking-amount-of-red-flags/ https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/07/the-maga-targeted-fr... If Elmo wants to create a phone for "nothing matters" shitposting "libertarians", then I am all for - have at it.
