If they were serious about improving Reddit, they’d fire all the mods who are usually weirdos who treat their subreddits as their own personal fiefdoms and seems like they are also selling their influence over posts to corporations. If you talk negatively about Marvel in /r/movies you can be banned. The capriciousness of the mods is what kills the experience.
- SilverBirch 4y agoThe problem is if you get rid of the mods you have a moderation problem and lose ad revenue.
- diogenescynic 4y agoPay someone to do it. When you make them unpaid positions, it means only people who are unqualified to be mods will end up as mods.
- SilverBirch 4y agoTake a look at Facebook, they're currently paying 15,000 people. This is a core contradiction at the heart of social media- you want it to be linear growth with fixed costs, paid moderation introduces linear growth with linear costs.
