    "Die Erfindung der Currywurst" by Uwe Timm, which claims that the Currywurst was actually invented in Hamburg, was required reading when I went to high school in Hamburg ;)

  Fun curry fact: In the Netherlands and Belgium we often eat curry with fries. Mayo, Curry and raw onions a common topping. Called "speciaal" [1]. Though in other parts, they will use Tomatoketchup (mayo and raw onions) rather than curry. If you ever visit the netherlands, make sure you get one of these.
