  Talking about him is very different than blindly believing he's some business god genius. He lost the mystique of being a super smart visionary and let us all see that he is really just a baffoon who lucked out with dad's money. Twitter is like watching a 5 year old deciding if he likes his toys or not

        Interesting didn't know about that. That said his dad like a legit unpleasant guy so not sure how much help he was.   Yes, it was. Myth by definition implies a scenario in which everyone who knows you loves you. It maybe impossible to reach that milestone but it should be no less than 75% likeability. Musk likeability is now well below 50%, it's way less than Biden's , on par with Trump's A social movement is only on the rise as long as the number of believers is greater than the number of skeptics, as soon as there is a reversal the downward spiral begins.

      Total likeability is the only data that matters Urban vs. non-urban or the location of the believers vs. haters, all that is only a concern of people who are entrusted by the parties leadership to engage in massive operations of gerrymandering.

The whole ironman image was always a rather brittle facade that would crack eventually. Especially with the edgy shoot from hip twitter posting style. Between Starlink/SpaceX and Tesla I'd say he's still looking pretty solid objectively even with the ongoing Twitter shitshow. The other thing I'm wondering about is what the end goal is with Twitter. Articles like this are judging outcomes without knowing the goal which to me seems like a substantial reasoning mistake. Money? Ego? Some vague free speech ideological thing? Best as I can tell only he knows (perhaps not even him)

  I think he's been relatively clear it's some ideological thing for him. Similar to the NYT, Twitter has been hyped up into some kind of far-left communist shibboleth in certain circles, which is a bit bemusing to outside observers. It's like gamergate for billionaires.

A number of "captains of industry" and other "heros" had dubious moral and political views. Henry Ford accepted a medal from Hitler. Charles Lindbergh was a fascist and racist. Had Elon not bought Twitter he would be tens of billions richer and not widely known to be one of those "libertarians" who find authoritarians, fascists, and misogynists to be fine people. As for "myth," the most creepy icky aspect isn't political. Elon, in an interview, claimed he held one of his children as they died. The mother of that child and an ex-wife, refutes that claim.
