How to test if we're living in a computer simulation
- NickRandom 4y agoWhile I'm more than prepared to keep an open mind on the subject, this is either a joke (in which case - Whoosh!) or a "0/10, Needs Improvement" I even went as far as following and reading all of the links that eventually led to https://aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.0087175 https://aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.0087175 and had to double check that it wasn't posted on the 1st of April. YMMV and I appreciate that my response is precisely what Agent Smith of the Matrix franchise would say but there has to be better and more lucid ways of forwarding the conjecture/theory than this p.o.s.
- Finnucane 4y agoIf it were a computer simulation, there would be bugs, crashes, glitches, and other imperfections. External intrusions into the perceived reality (Alien UFOs are actually sysadmins running tests, etc.).
- beardyw 4y agoThis started hundreds of years ago with "things only exist because I believe they do". The whole computer thing is a twist on that, but why? Is a computer really the best way to make this happen? It feels to me that a brain would be a better fit to the job. Not that I believe any of it.
