God, this is such a farce. Can't wait to get rid of those goblins and feel again a return to the boring old reality. Bolsonaro and his cronies will hopefully land in jail someday and stay there.
- matheusmoreira 4y agoAre they wrong though? Is there a serious refutation of the arguments they raised? I haven't seen any. If there is then I do want to read it. This is dragging on so long. Why can't the TSE judge convincingly refute this matter? It's his responsibility to investigate this. He keeps censoring people and apparently avoids actually addressing the points raised at all costs.
- smoldesu 4y agoWe already did this "voting machine" fiasco, if he had concerns around election integrity then he should have fixed them during his term. Now it is over, and doing anything other than respecting the integrity of democracy makes Brazil (and Bolsonaro) look weak.
- matheusmoreira 4y agoBolsonaro did have concerns about the election's integrity, He voiced those concerns publicly rather often, I remember it. That somehow summoned even CIA goons here to tell our sovereign president to stop complaining about the voting machines. Funny how officials of governments elected by paper ballots have the gall to tell him not to doubt voting machines. CIA people at that. An attempt to establish an auditable paper trail was made during Bolsonaro's government. Alexandre de Moraes and all the other judges declared it unconstitutional. They said there was no need for a paper trail because the voting machines are secure and unquestionable. Now vulnerabilities have been exposed and the election results have been questioned... And this exact same Alexandre guy is here censoring everything about it, stonewalling any attempts to get to the truth of the matter and arbitrarily punishing anyone who tries. "Look weak" doesn't quite say it. I think it's more like "completely fucked up".
- smoldesu 4y agoBe that as it may, Bolsonaro's horrible public sentiment is unlikely to find anyone defending him. It's not uncommon to see unpopular figures of power get strongarmed by democratically-elected leaders.
- matheusmoreira 4y agoI agree with you that Bolsonaro is widely hated and not without reason... Does that justify this insanity, this abuse of power though? I mean, they're discussing Alexandre's impeachment right now. If that's successful, then it meants he abused his power as a judge to censor Bolsonaro supporters in order to get his own preferred candidate elected. I cannot think of a worse accusation that can be leveled at the head of our Electoral Justice Court. How can one believe in the legitimacy of any institution of the brazilian government after that? There's massive protests in the capital right now, the violence is escalating and the media is already labeling them terrorists. This is not looking good.
