- doener 4y agoIs there something similar to https://www.fairphone.com/en/ https://www.fairphone.com/en/ in the US?
- anonym29 4y agoI don't know from an environmental perspective, but I know the Librem 5 USA has everything except the wifi modem (India) and case (China) manufacturered and assembled in the USA, which should minimize the modern-day-slave-labor part of the problem.
- LegitShady 4y agofairphone got rid of their 3.5mm aux jack to sell a bunch of semi disposable wireless headsets. So much for sustainability.
- ThePowerOfFuet 4y agoUSB-C to 3.5mm adapters solve the issue; attach one to the end of your headphones and forget about it.
- LegitShady 4y agousb-c to 3.5mm excarcebate durability issues with usb connectors, don't sound very good on average, cost money, and for fairphone reduce sustainability and contribute to landfills.
- yummypaint 4y agoThere is the pinephone, but i don't know what state the software is in these days.
- 5350-uiop-1130 4y agoand still Apple remains silent on this. when you squeeze your vendors ruthlessly, vendors squeeze their management, and they then squeeze the workers, and so on. so I believe Apple cultivates this environment directly or indirectly. i remember the workers in india apple factory also rioting from total absence of pay.
- aaomidi 4y agoThe alternative is that the US govt tells apple to get their shit together or they’re going to get fined a % of yearly revenue. Asking people to stop buying iPhones will never work. Government regulation will, and has in the past.
- rkwasny 4y agoOh they will, there will be no iPhones this holiday season :-)
