Seems to work for me in Japan, although the "u left ur ipad behind broooo!!!!!" feature is not useful (100s of notifications; never actually left unintentionally).
AirPods specifically: annoying alerts in airports, like 20 minutes after going through security (this is in USA, so that means doing the security theater boogie). That made me think AirPods had a severe latency that made the alerting even less useful than usual.
Also I lost a set of AirPods Pro (original generation) and I am 90% sure it was because they fell out of a pocket -- but no alert.
- veidr 4y agoOh I should add that I track my family members with it, and it is fucking superb. Like when my wife (iPhone) is coming home by taxi, or my kid (hand-me-down Apple Watch) is coming home by subway, it's almost like one of those fake Hollywood movies where the CIA is tracking people by satellite.
- filoleg 4y agoKinda similar, but me and my friends do the same. Some have it always enabled, others enable it only for periods when they are free to hang out. Makes it easy to figure out where to head next with a group of people ("ok, so person A is here, person B is in that other nearby area, and person C is a bit north right now, so let's all meet up at location Y"), as well as actually meeting them at a specific spot. Note: this scenario only makes sense if you are in a fairly dense area without a ton of driving involved. This approacg worked splendidly for me and my friends in NYC, but much less so in other US cities.
- dpkirchner 4y agoHave you tried setting location exceptions for your iPad? It works well for me. I use it to avoid notifications when I leave my laptop bag at home (rarely a real problem).
- alexfromapex 4y agoI've had like 40 not useful and 1 useful one. I'd rather it remind me about my macbook and not my ipad.
