Good article, but the "Bullshit Industry?" section doesn't fit with the rest. Adtech is pure evil as far as I'm concerned, but that is orthogonal to whether it's pointless. A pointless adtech job might be to add "table_" or "[product name]_" in front of all the table names.
- adamgordonbell 4y agoAuthor here. I agree with you and wasn't really sure whether to include it. I guess it all depends on whether you are thinking about pointless in a specific sense of your job, or thinking something is pointless in terms of its impact on the world being neutral or net negative.
