So if you plan your life (unlike some of us who just drift aimlessly through life) you need to take the full range of possibilities into consideration. So this guy didn't take into consideration the possibility he would have a short life--while the guy who lives paycheck to paycheck doesn't take into consideration that things can go bad (from disability or a recession...)
