Twitter is a perfect case study of the shifting power dynamics of the ad market and how to make money in this era of the internet.
- andrewstuart 4y agoAs described by the first paragraphs of this article, buying Twitter was an epic mistake. If I was Elon I think I'd write it off and make do with my remaining $200B. What would I know though - maybe Elon has some sort of nouse to make the thing work.
- xrayarx 4y agoAfter an analysis of the current state of the company, how it’s ad systems work and how online ads work in general, the article suggests the following: The company needs to simultaneously: Counter-position the platform against the video trends of other social platforms Retain advertisers Find revenue streams that don’t kill the user content creation flywheel The key is to reimagine the feed. A user's feed is currently determined by one central algorithm. Twitter should allow for a competitive algorithms marketplace.
