Ask HN: Alternate uses for an SMS task confirmation system
I developed an assignment system where every week people get assigned tasks and on monday a SMS gets sent out and they click 'yes/no' to confirm.
On Friday they get a confirmation sms that they are doing the task.
The system is really used for people in charge of scheduling to take the hassles of reminders.
The system kind of psuedo competes with the church system planning center online, but was curious if there might be any other industries this might be helpful for?
Currently it is being used for two churches (one being a paying church for about $5 a month), and was seeing if this could be scaled to other domains.
- patrogizmo 4y agoLaundromats, gas stations, restaurants, and other companies in the service-industry would find use in a technology like this.
- palidanx 4y agoInteresting, just curious for laundromats and gas stations what would the use case be?
- patrogizmo 4y agoCommunicating work schedules and recurring tasks. These industries deal with a lot of turn-over and no-shows. For context, I designed a laundromat management system for one of the largest manufacturers of laundry machines in the world. Part of the work was flying out to meet with laundromat owners to find out their biggest issues. Scheduling and communication of schedules was a big sticking point (though not something that we ultimately designed into the system we launched).
