It's unfortunate when companies fail and I hope I am not coming off as celebrating their misfortune but I love this trend of companies open sourcing their products when they are unable to continue with their existing business model. I feel like it gives their products a chance to continue a positive legacy. I've recently noticed a couple of companies open sourcing their product upon discontinuing the company -- is this a new trend or has it happened for a long time and I am only just recently noticing it?
