This grossly understates it. The interest payments alone on the new debt are > $1BN per year.
It ran just fine before the acquisition.
After the acquisition it didn’t just need to take in more money - it needs an order of magnitude more.
His decisions don’t seem likely to produce this, but business as usual just wasn’t an option either.
