Chest CT Findings in Marijuana Smokers
- dpflan 4y agoConclusion: “Airway inflammation and emphysema were more common in marijuana smokers than in nonsmokers and tobacco-only smokers, although variable interobserver agreement and concomitant cigarette smoking among the marijuana-smoking cohort limits our ability to draw strong conclusions.”
- wkdneidbwf 4y agoyeah—it leaves ambiguity around whether it’s marijuana, the combination of tobacco and marijuana, or something else

- spookie 4y agoI believe that any smoke as a byproduct of combustion will do this. Even more so if that's the only thing you're breathing in for minutes at a time. Just leaving this in as a reminder for anyone. It's not worth it. Don't smoke. Nonetheless, the claims presented shouldn't be comparing both as independent from one another.
- eurasiantiger 4y agoThis is good advice. There are many vaporizers on the market. Nobody has a reason to combust and smoke anything in 2022.
- poiuyt098 4y agono one has a reason to pop a wheelie on a bike, or do skateboard tricks, or wear stilettos, but some things just make you look cool!
- eurasiantiger 4y agoOne of these things is not like the others.
- p1necone 4y agoYeah, this conclusion only really tells us anything if marijuana + tobacco smokers generally smoke less tobacco than tobacco only smokers. Otherwise it's no surprise that someone who smokes a pack a day and smokes marijuana is worse off than someone who just smokes a pack a day.
- throwup 4y agoBreathing smoke was never healthy. Eat your weed.
- autotune 4y agoThe only time I ended up in a hospital due to substances was because I thought I was dying after eating too much of an edible, even though it was really just my first, and only, panic attack. Be careful.
- AmericanChopper 4y agoIf Marijuana is a serious medicine, then I’d personally expect it to be packaged by professional laboratory in some sort of precisely dosed unit, and to only contain the compounds required to derive the therapeutic benefit. The amateurness of it I can kinda get past, but I’ve never been able to take the idea of smoking your “medicine” seriously.
- autotune 4y agoI stopped taking it in any form a few months ago, and stopped with Adderall too right before the shortage. Unless you have some kind of chronic pain or have cancer and it's marijuana vs opioids, it is more for personal entertainment than anything else. California confirmed it as more of a means of entertainment similar to, but still possibly less dangerous than, alcohol by making it legal for retail sale on the state level a few years back.
- weaksauce 4y ago> California confirmed it as more of a means of entertainment similar to, but still possibly less dangerous than, alcohol by making it legal for retail sale on the state level a few years back. that's not how the propositions work in california though. it's proposed, backed by enough of the citizens via signatures, then voted on in a simple majority passage during an election. There is no "confirmation" one way or the other of it being anything other than something that a majority of the voters in california wanting to do it recreationally.
- Centigonal 4y agoThis is a great start and raises a lot of questions, for example: - 50 of 56 marijuana smokers in this study also used tobacco - how does this affect the results? - How does frequency of use compare in the marijuana vs. tobacco cohort? - How does smoking compare to vaping (both e-liquid for nicotine and thc, and dry herb for marijuana)? - How would a filtered marijuana product affect these risks?
- ryanwaggoner 4y agoThat first point alone makes me distrust this study. Why go with such a shitty design that you can’t really conclude anything meaningful? It’s not that hard to find marijuana smokers who don’t smoke tobacco, and then you could have told us something interesting.
- davidguetta 4y agoAre you not always putting tobacco in it somehow ?

- encryptluks2 4y agoI'm curious is they are comparing marijuana in states where recreational cartels have taken over or if they are doing much to check the quality of the content. I've noticed almost all recreational marijuana now is just bad. Like it will hurt your lungs and is sprayed throughout the grow with lots of pesticides bad. There are a lot of factors, from mineral buildup to curing conditions that could all have to do with the impact on health.
- daVe23hu 4y agopick your vice .... they all have a cost.... booze, cigs, dope, overeating, nothing is free :))))))
- jb1991 4y agoAnd yet many people avoid all those vices you mention.
- daVe23hu 4y agoah based on obesity rates and failures of basic drug tests I would respectfully disagree...
- jb1991 4y agoNote that “many” doesn’t mean “all”. And expand your horizons outside of one country as the US doesn’t represent all of the human race. The epidemic of obesity and diabetes is mostly an American phenomenon.
- daVe23hu 4y agohttps://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/obesity-rates-by-country https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/obesity-r... might want to read the above article.... I don't disagree with you BTW.... Have a nice day
- jb1991 4y agoThat list appears to support what I said. The United States is way ahead in obesity rates, compared to other western nations.
