That's very sad. I was reading Darwin's Radio while travelling in Cambodia in 2001 when the WTC attacks occurred. In the aftermath, with the anthrax scare and the CDC response it was sometimes hard to tell the difference between what was happening in the book and in real life. Amazing writer.
